Solve It with Computers
Fall 2006
Lab 1

The goal for this lab is to help you develop and demonstrate your skills using Excel by
developing two spreadsheets
and debugging another. Before doing this lab you are strongly urged to work though Chapter 1
actually carrying out Hands-On Exercises 1 through 4.
- Work the MiniCase called "The Housing Office" on page 64. Follow instructions in the problem except you do
not need to print the workbook. Instead submit the final spreadsheet electronically as directored below.
- Work the exercise called "Excel Chapter 1: The Clark School" on page 1046 except you do not need to print
the workbook. Instead submit the final spreadsheet electronically as directed below.
- Work the MiniCase called "Accuracy Counts" on page 64. Create the memo in Microsoft Word.
In additions to the instructions in the text,
correct the workbook. Submit both the corrected spreadsheet and the memo electronically as
directed below

"Housing Office" workbook so you will only have to submit one workbook.
- Make sure to include your name on every worksheet and in the Word document
Grading:

and impression they leave the reader. The memo for the "Accuracy Counts" problem will be graded
on readability as will as its description of the problem and the ways to avoid mistakes of this
nature in the future.
