- Java compiler and documentation:
- The Java Software
Development Kit (Standard Edition) Consider downloading J2SE1.4.1. Download the SDK
(Software Development Kit) which includes both the Java compiler and plug-in for browsers. The JRE (Java
Runtime Environment) only contains the plug-in for browsers. Note: The page that allows you to download
the SDK also contains links for the installation instructions and documentation. Just scroll down the page to
find them.
- Important: Read the installation instructions. In order to conveniently run
Java, you will probably need to set the path permanently as discussed in those instructions. See:
